WIN By Laws

Purpose

We come together as resources for each other by providing a network of referrals, personal introductions, leads and business discussion in order to promote commerce and generate professional ties and friendship in the Lake Zurich community.

Membership

We are an open group for all women whose attendance would be mutually beneficial. A member will complete a membership application for approval. We do restrict membership to one member in a related field. Any grievances regarding membership conflicts, WIN policies or procedures should be addressed to a member of the Board of Directors.

Representatives from non-profit organizations may apply to join WIN through the established application and approval process. However, the exclusivity rule will be waived for non-profit members so that more than one representative from a non-profit category may be allowed to join (for example, more than one church could be allowed). WIN as a group does not have any affiliation with organizations represented by individual members.

Attendance

We strongly encourage steady attendance in order to benefit from the group and benefit others. Therefore members that miss more than four  meetings semi-annually will forfeit their next scheduled speaker slot and be subject to reevaluation of their membership standing by the Membership Officer and the Board of Directors. Following reevaluation, a member may be asked to relinquish their membership to allow another person representing their field to join. Members may petition in writing to the Membership Officer to have this requirement waived, i.e. in times of severe illness or personal strife. Experience has shown that the members who consistently attend meetings are the ones who benefit the most from referrals. For maternity leaves, WIN will hold the membership without attendance for a period of two months.

Referrals

No restrictions. We believe that referrals and their benefits come to those who attend, and those that give shall in turn receive.

Meeting Agenda

The meeting will start promptly at 8:15 am. It is optional for the speakers to provide breakfast items if they wish. The meeting begins with a round of introductions. Three to four speakers are each given 10 minutes.* Referrals are exchanged. Old and new business follows, including reports, committee chairs and announcements of activities, events or organizations of special interest. A final round of closings concludes the meeting at 9:45am. Optional networking may follow the meeting.
*Scheduled speakers needing to change their committed speaker dates are responsible for switching with another member or forfeit presentation time until the next speaker sign-up.
